For MANY reasons. I'm getting so sick of everything they screw up. I understand they handle a LOT of mail, but they also fuck up a LOT of mail. If the amount of mail I've had screwed up is anything like what other people get screwed up, then I TOTALLY understand why they're going under.
So let's start from this past summer whenI commissioned someone to do a painting of Logan. My first money order got lost on the way there. Then when she sent the painting it got lost (and thankfully returned to her!) on the way here, and they messed it all up. When she sent it again it looked like it had gotten stuck somewhere AGAIN and the envelope was all ripped and raggedy. Thankfully the painting looks just fine in a frame (and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it <3).
This past christmas I participated in a secret santa, and I was told they lost my SS package that whoever got me sent. Last summer we did a similar exchange in the summer, and the package I sent got lost.
Then, last week I ordered a poster from Amazon ( Exploding TARDIS if you're interested <3). It was packaged exceptionally well in a nice sturdy tube that was CRUSHED when I got it. The company that sent it is absolutely not at fault as their packing job was beautiful, but it obviously wasn't handled with care after it left them (though the tube was CLEARLY marked "fragile handle with care" all over it). I think it's salvageable once I get a frame for it, but REALLY? WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO DELIVER MAIL UNDAMAGED?
And this doesn't even count the many, many magazines and letters and stuff that have arrived open, torn, or wet, or mail delivered to me that is CLEARLY addressed to someone else at a completely different address (and how much of my stuff goes to someone else with a completely different address when it's clearly marked for me with my address??). I'm so done with USPS. Maybe it's GOOD if they go under and mail all goes to private companies. At least then there's a possibility I'd get my stuff and get it intact. I've never had problems like this with FedEx or UPS :wall:
It's not just my carrier, either, because in the past few years I've lived in 6 different places and had the same problems with all of them.
