At home!

Postby EvilZakkie on Tue Feb 02, 2010 4:00 am

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - in case anyone's wondering why I've suddenly found the time to post lots again, it's because I'm doing the stay-at-home dad thing... *grins*

Ah, great. I hope it will work out for the three of you.

Is it full-time? Or a couple of days every week?

Full-time - It would probably be better if we could both work part-time, but it would be almost impossible to organise two compatible part-time jobs...

Will you be trying to work from home again?

In theory that's the plan - but I tend not to get many breaks from Connor-time during the day, so it might not be realistic...

Hard to do indeed. Once he finds a rhythm that suits him, you may get your chances.

Welcome back Zakkie. Last time I was posting in here you had vanished for a while like new parents tend to do. Good to see you. :-)

I apologize to everyone that I haven't been in here in a long time. I've become addicted to a silly online game that has me perseverating like mad... as in... can't tear myself away from it to eat, get enough sleep or proper personal care. *sigh*

Hmm I probably just flattered myself. Nobody noticed I was missing.

We did.

But we are used to people disappearing now and then, for what ever reasons. Empathy through experience maybe?

Good to see you pup.

Hi Zakkie, good to hear from you. Hope Connor is well and that you are enjoying being a 'stay at home Dad'.

I agree with Hyke. Admittedly I have no children of my own, but going by the experience of friends with young children and also what I remember from when I worked in childcare, babies do find a rhythm as time goes on and if you work with them to keep to that routine, you'll soon find that you start to get a few pockets of "Zakkie time".

I remember when a friend's baby (I was his surrogate auntie!) went through a phase of screaming the place down when his mother disappeared from sight - she couldn't even go to pee without him letting rip! No amount of mine and his granddad's reassurance or good old fooling around would soothe him! Thankfully this was only a phase of a couple of months and after that things were a lot calmer.
