I believe I can't do it by trying. Either it happens or it doesn't. If I knew how it worked I could decide when and where.

Sometimes I think that if I could give away that particular quirk you'd be welcome to it.

Well, perhaps some journeys are good. But some are terrible. And just like journeys we make in our bodies there is no knowing in advance what kind of trip it'll be.

Read the accounts in the Terry Pratchett novels of out-of body experiences (the witches seem to have some control over it) for a better idea of how it feels than I could describe.

The good ones are usually where I travel in a bird (usually an owl) for a while.

The worst one was where I 'arrived' at the scene of an horrific pile-up on the A21 not long after it had happened and watched the injured and dead being removed from the vehicles. It was extrememly distressing and I had a struggle to get back to my body and wake myself up. I lay there sobbing for the longest time before it was time to wake my hubby and get up. I told him about it - I think that he would have been more sceptical had I been less upset, but it must have been hard for him to take it seriously. I was so miserable that I insisted he drove to work even though it was my turn. By the time we passed the accident (about 10 - 12 miles from home, exactly where I had described it to my hubby) the vehicles had been dragged to the hard shoulder and the road was open, but seeing them again put me back into the miseries for the rest of the day.

I've had a couple of experiences, though nothing quite as dramatic as these...

When I was about 17, I was lying in bed, and I suddenly felt very tingly. After this, I was looking around the room lazily, until I suddenly flipped over and saw myself lying on the bed, with a viewpoint from a good meter above my body. I was so shocked that I immediately snapped back into my body, and I sat up.

I'm reasonably certain this wasn't a dream, both because of the texture of the experience, and because there was no time gap between lying in bed and experiencing the viewpoint.

A few months later, I had the same experience, except that this time for some reason I saw my dog (Panther) looking up at me from the side of my bed. I was a bit more ready for it this time, so I experimented with trying to move around the room (and checking whether Panthers eyes followed me around the room). Then I tried to go outside through the window - I got about halfway through, then I got a bit weirded out again, and snapped back into my body.

Panther, of course, was actually outside the whole time - at least physically.

I haven't been able to do it since - I'll have to have a go at trying again sometime...

A few weeks ago I had a talk with an openminded psychological healthworker. And we started talking about the paranormal. He wanted to know if it was more common among people on the spectrum. I said I did not know if it was more common. But that indeed some people on the spectrum do have paranormal experiences.

He told that it was his experience that people who had suffered a lot in their childhood were far more often paranormally gifted than other clients he met.
He also added that the paranormal gifts of people abused in childhood were more towards negative events. As a sort of extra radar for danger.
Clients with traumatic youth had a higher chance to develop paranormal abilities, but the paranormal experienced were more often about negative things too.

He was aware that many clients needed help with that. And knew he could not refer them to a psychologist or psychiatrist, because these would most of the time only think it was a sign of psychosis.

That made me think about something I read a while ago in a book of Martine Delfos. She stated that when it comes to negative emotions people on the spectrum can score better in sensing them than nt people. She found it thus strong that she describes it as allmost paranormal.

I don't think these experiences (both paranormal or normal) are any more common in autistic people. Though I do agree that someone who has been suffering in general, if involved in poltergeist-type activity, may experience that to a higher degree than someone not in stress. But such a divide, if existing, wouldn't be along autistic / non-autistic lines at all, there's no reason to suspect that I think.

OK, well this doesn't really warrant a whole new thread, but it DOES justify necrobumping this baby...

I went to a Native American medicine drum making workshop today. (Stop sniggering and just bear with me, this is the most mundane part of the whole story, OK?)

To preface, I sometimes have those horrid moments where I've woken up but my body's asleep and can't move. They're the stuff that leads to dreams of paralysis, or being buried, or having a terribly heavy weight squashing you down - the succubus/incubus tales of waking up with a demon on top of you may have come from them, too, which may or may not be relevant to this tale. The scientific explanation is that it's caused by the mind regaining consciousness while your body is still so deeply asleep that your muscles are too relaxed to move voluntarily. (I've described that really badly, but it IS a real phenomenon, honest.)

Anyhow, I had one last night and took a heck of a time to shake the feeling that someone had laid a ten tonne weight on my back whle I was asleep.

I trundled off to the drum workshop, and early in the day one of the organisers - who's also a reiki master and energy worker - said "There's something on your back. It's draining you."

It had already been a weird sort of morning, so roundabout now I start feeling a little too much like alternative-universe Donna Noble for my liking...

She offered to remove it, and I agreed... I don't know exactly what she did (what with it being on my back and all) but I felt like I had a power point on my back and someone had just reefed a plug out of it.

Now it feels kind of sore in a good way - like after you've had a boil lanced so it can heal.

That does sound pretty strange.
You haven't had a decision to make lately have you? Remember it could seem small, but the whole world is at stake. :)

Flar read the witchcraft one first and remember the rule of three when you read the spells one.
what ever you put out will come back threefold. dont send out bad stuff or try to control people or you will get it back multiplied by three.
I may not appear much but I am lurking, offline stuff eats my time...
