Spectrum Island the Webcomic

Postby Alias Pseudonym on Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:48 pm

I hereby hijack this largely uninhabited forum in the name of webcomicery. Behold, the pilot of my new comic idea in all its chicken-scratch glory. Future installments will hopefully be smaller and with improving art. Also I will cut down the width, because I think some monitors will have to scroll across, which is annoying. Anyway, coming being way too huge for normal image posting, here's a link.

In this one Norman tries to introduce himself to Dimeth and Adeny, but they have to suddenly dash off to save... something... from a hypothetical robot bear. Drawing the robot bear was easily my favourite part of the process.

Suggestions and critique are welcome, as are any questions.
PRESENT DAY. PRESENT TIME. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Is Dimeth slightly deaf?

She has auditory processing disorder, so she misses chunks of words and phrases, particularly if she isn't ready or paying attention. Like many people with APD, she's learned to fill in the gaps with guesses as to what the person said. This gap filling process has an unfortunate tendency to change whatever was said so that it's about whatever she's most interested in at the moment. In this case robots. Saying things louder doesn't actually help, she just happened to notice Norman the second time.

I agree, it flowed well and the drawing was good (better than anything I could do!)

Glee!

Also, I'm debating whether to keep the current length (slightly reduced) of the comic or to cut it in half. Any opinions?

With length, do you mean the length of the 'paper' or the length of the story?

I like the time I get in looking at the pictures. Both Dimeth and Norman stand out as not grasping the world they are in. And that might get lost if you cut the story in half. Norman at a loss. And Dimeth filling the gaps.
