I like your story too. Do you have other stories with the same characters? Do you let the readers know Dimeth has APD?

Also, I'm debating whether to keep the current length (slightly reduced) of the comic or to cut it in half. Any opinions?

With length, do you mean the length of the 'paper' or the length of the story?

I like the time I get in looking at the pictures. Both Dimeth and Norman stand out as not grasping the world they are in. And that might get lost if you cut the story in half. Norman at a loss. And Dimeth filling the gaps.

The length of the paper, and not for this one but for future installments. And yep, I'm making more, with the same characters and more, all but about 3 (counting Norman) of which will have some kind of ASD. Also, irrelevant trivia: due to an odd mistake by me, nothing in this comic is actually black. All the lines are 320A14, a very dark shade of red. I kind of like it, though, so I'm not changing it.

The only real difference if I cut it in half is that I'll be able to post them more frequently, and it'll push me to make something funny or interesting more often.

As for APD and other disorders that will come up, I'll probably be able to explain some of them in the course of the story. Also, I plan to do this in story arcs, so once I finish the first one I'll do some special explanatory comics between arcs.

Also, this arc is hereby retroactively titled 'Welcome to Autism' in honor of that anime series 'Welcome to the NHK,' every episode of which was titled 'Welcome to' whatever even when it didn't make sense, because I admire how that show represented mental health issues and such. I'll make a title page whenever I get around to it. This arc will introduce characters and Norman will join the islanders and some stuff I haven't thought of yet will probably happen too.

Aaaand here we go. Meet Laurie, who has mistakenly assumed Norman is an island dweller. Also cactus heads, apparently.

Spectrum Island Comic 2!

I decided to keep the longer format, though it's been chopped to about three quarters of the original width.

T.T

Come on, people, give me some feedback here. Is the narrower format better? Is the cactus thing too silly, or do you think I could make a point through the silliness? Do you like Laurie's character so far?

The cactus works I think :)
I don't like the suggestion that I'm somehow less of a person, just because I don't want to do what everyone else does.

The characters look good, and the dialogue has been pretty entertaining, but if you want a bit of feedback, I've got a bit of constructive criticism; You could do with a bit of attention to background. They don't have to be really complex backgrounds, but a bit of distiguishing detail in the panels would help with atmosphere, and add to the comic overall.

And this is just me here, but you need some nice bad puns. :geek:

Now that's what I call constructive criticism. You're right, at least enough background to establish where the characters are would be a good idea. Hmm, I've got to go do some research on this dilemma... Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes use very short characters... Garfield only shows tables, ever... to the Fox-Trot!

Now, I've noticed a tendency for this program to get rather silly. Now I do my best to keep thin gs moving along, but I'm not having things getting silly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0f2aFhZ3Uk

BTW, it might be useful to set up an actual site for these, as it makes it easier for people to read through them in sequential order
Nathan was too much going on IRL right now to be on here reliably. If you need to contact him you can email him at nREMOVETHISathanww@gmail.com
