Being part-time banned?

Postby aliengirl on Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:09 am

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help with this.

When I logged on to this site from home yesterday (where I have mobile broadband as no other broadband is permitted by my family) I got a message saying I was permanently banned!

I was very upset as I couldn't imagine what I had done and I sent an email to the admin address to ask for an explanation of what I'd done.

Then today, logging on from work where we have pretty fast broadband, I can get on here with zero problems and there doesn't appear to be any reference to me having been banned.

So I'm very confused.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If I did anything bad, I'm sorry, but right now I'm mostly mystified!

Fixed! Sorry about that - I'm not quite sure how it happened, but your IP server was being blocked. I've taken it off the list now, so you should be able to log on from home. If it's still not working, send me another email.

You've always been one of my favourite posters here, so if anything like this ever happens again, rest assured that it's by accident - the site's a better place for having you around... *smiles*

Take care, and sorry for worrying you.

For everyone else - I've just had a look, and there were three or four other servers in the list as well - I've removed them now. If you know of anyone else that's had trouble logging on, let them know that it should work ok now.

My apologies again...

Thanks EZ - and sorry if my email was a little abrupt!

I was worried that I'd inadvertantly said or done something and couldn't think what it could be!

I'm glad everything is sorted now- thanks for fixing it so quickly.

:D

Most likely you just happened to get an IP that was on some spam blacklist or something. Wrongplanet's even worse about that--if you try to register from the Tor network, it instantly bans that IP, and also any other IP you've used to acsess that account.
Nathan was too much going on IRL right now to be on here reliably. If you need to contact him you can email him at nREMOVETHISathanww@gmail.com

But of course My Leige.
I don't like the suggestion that I'm somehow less of a person, just because I don't want to do what everyone else does.

Speaking of being banned, I was exploring around the User CP a bit ago, and I noticed the following under Usergroups:

Banned
